We are pleased to present Rica Bando Exhibition at MEGUMI OGITA GALLERY. Bando lived and worked in the USA, and now in Japan.

Lithography is a 200-year-old printing technique invented in Germany, characterised by the fluid and spontaneous brushstrokes with lithographic particles. For Bando, lithography is more than just a technique; the work that emerges from it has always been a special entity, a successful and accidental fusion of ideas, images and processes.

Bando's work is figurative, but some of it is also abstract, such as light in a quiet space, a frozen landscape or a view through a raindrop-stained window. Whichever the work, she tries to express the atmosphere, focusing on what is naturally composed or present. As an artist, she places great importance on the hope that her work will be a soothing and calming window into the mind.

This exhibition will feature ink paintings with dots and a series of colourful lithographs.
