MEGUMI OGITA GALLERY

Since the establishment in Tokyo in 2007, MEGUMI OGITA GALLERY has introduced the artists who are particular about the finish of their works, using traditional techniques and materials, as well as artists who convey their passion for expression, such as graffiti, both in Japan and overseas. There were remarkable artists in Japan, and the works were nurtured by their outstanding commitment even before the modern era, when the concept of art did not exist here. For example, the making of Buddhist statues was sublimated into rich expression through exploration, and resulted in a unique world. The artists did not end up with conceptual novelty or realistic techniques, and aimed to create works that bring surprise and enjoyment when the viewer encountered, by honing their skills to draw out the full appeal of the shape, even if the motif was familiar. We hope to showcase a wide range of expressions that move the heart with modern and contemporary Japanese artists in this genealogy, as well as overseas artists who share commonalities with them.

PandA

We have showcased works created by artists in accordance with the theme of each exhibition at MEGUMI OGITA GALLERY. Meanwhile, driven by a desire to introduce artists and works in a different way, we have rebuilt a cabin in Nagano, Japan and named it “PandA”, which serves as a venue for realizing new projects by planning and action. We document the process of artists creating and exhibiting their works on-site. By publishing these videos, we aim to reveal the artist’s essence that are often overlooked in conventional art appreciation.

The Booth by PandA

The Booth by PandA, newly established in Ginza, Tokyo, is a small shop offering a diverse range of pieces. It provides a cozier setting than the gallery space, allowing visitors to enjoy the works in a casual manner.
