MEGUMI OGITA GALLERY B1 2-16-12 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo

MEGUMI OGITA GALLERY is pleased to hold an exhibition of three photographers based in Hokkaido, Hiroki INOUE and eillie shimizu, and Mt. Fuji photographer TAKASHI from Tuesday, 14th January to Saturday, 1st February.

Hiroki INOUE (Born in Sapporo, 1979) returned to Hokkaido to start photographing landscapes after graduating from Faculty of Law at Niigata University and finishing his studies at Tohoku Gakuin University. Since then, he has been shooting for beautiful scenery with animals that live peacefully in the northern region, such as Ezo red foxes.

In 2016, he became the first Japanese to win 1st place in the Nature Category of "National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year". In 2017, he appeared in "Jonetsu Tairiku (Passion Continent, Mainichi Broadcasting System)" and is expected to play an active role in the world as one of Japan's leading photographers. In 2018, he held a solo exhibition at MEGUMI OGITA GALLERY. He exhibited a mix of tranquility and dynamism in Hokkaido, as well as the works of Ezo red foxes created by his own point of view, which were well received.

TAKASHI photographed Mt. Fuji in earnest for the first time in 2011, and has continued to photograph only Mt. Fuji for next 8 years. He began presenting his work overseas in 2014. Since then, he has been featured on the cover of National Geographic Traveler magazine in the United States and won many international photo contests. In Japan, Sony held a solo exhibition at the Sony Imaging Gallery Ginza in 2019, and held other solo exhibitions at Sony Stores in Nagoya and Sapporo that year. In addition, he has been featured in magazines and on television, expanding the scope of his activities.

He shoots Mt. Fuji from every season, time and distance, and pursues new Mt. Fuji with his unconventional ideas such as clear and vivid colors, delicate contrasts in monochrome, and deep and tranquil blue ink series. The series is more like portrait photos than landscape photos.

In the early summer of 2017, eillie shimizu (Born in Chiba, 1989) was overwhelmed by wonders of nature when she accompanied Hiroki INOUE, shooting in Hokkaido. In the midst of this, she was eager to take pictures herself and got a camera.

Since then, she went to Hokkaido every month to take pictures. In February 2019, she moved to Higashikawa-cho, a town of photograph in Hokkaido, and while taking pictures for corporate advertisements, she creates works with animals and natural landscapes among beautiful landscapes in northern Japan.

In this exhibition, INOUE will exhibit 4 photos of the brave and dignified Yezo sika deer and 1 of the sister work of his masterpiece "Fox Chase", "Fox Hug", a total of 5 works. TAKASHI will exhibit 6 works of Fuji with blue ink series sunflowers, clouds and boats developed from his masterpiece cold and black monochrome photographs. Shimizu will exhibit 10 works that capture animals and nature she encounters in Hokkaido from a gentle perspective in the project room of the gallery.

We hope you look forward to "Hiroki INOUE, TAKASHI and eillie shimizu Exhibition".
