We are pleased to announce the 7th exhibition, for the first time in 2 years, "Green Life" by Yukino Iwatsuki at MEGUMI OGITA GALLERY.

 

Born in 1975, Yukino Iwatsuki graduated from Visual Communication Design Course at Kanazawa College of Art in 1998. In addition to her solo exhibitions in Japan, she won prizes in 13th Arte Laguna Prize and The Chelsea International Fine Art Competition in 2019.

 

The act of looking is one of the important factors in her creation. For the artist who is fascinated by daily life, the world in front of her, such as light, colors and scenery, becomes a subject to trust with a sense of realness. The philosophy and ideals are embodied in "Reality = Life". It is the discovery of the pure beauty which grows in humble days differing from fantasy or realism in art. She redefines everyday feelings that tend to be disliked and sublimates them into works as something beautiful and precious.

 

The combination of small houses and animals, tropical plants, and vegetation seen from the inside of Japanese-style rooms with the bedding is something that is common in her life and on overseas trips. On overall flat pictures, the atmosphere created by the gathering of things, such as landscapes, buildings and living creatures, is depicted without self-assertion. Therefore you can feel the existence which seeps out quietly from the dissimilated* works.

 

In this exhibition, we will be exhibiting mainly new oil paintings, as well as drawings that depict scenes in her mind whilst traveling in Thailand and other countries. In the midst of rapid social changes, 15 works were born with a sincere attitude based on a consistent theme. Yukino Iwatsuki's solo exhibition “Green Life" will be open on our website for those who cannot come to the venue.
