Kunihiro AKINAGA(b.1978, Ceramic Course, Osaka University of Arts, BA 2001)’ s ceramic sculpture has been exhibited across half globe not only in Europe, America and Asia but also collected by Inax Museum and International Museum of the Ceramics of Faenza. AKINAGA’ s topic of creation is usually the skeleton of animals. He consults real animal taxidermy, research the shape and texture of bones then rubs ceramics by hand, glazes enamel, and finally kilns into different animal skeletons.In 2012, Akinaga had had a chance to create tea bowls. He says creating bowls requires an intuitive process which is opposite to making sculpture. His bowl is identified as important role to reveal his integrity as a sculptor paradoxically. We'll show his 9 works in this show.Kjell Hahn (b 1978. BFA Painting, Truman State University, Kirksville, MO. 2001) is an American artist who is a director, founder of Shiro Oni Studio artist in residency program. Onishi, Gunma, Japan.Hahn has spent several years working with potters around Japan. In ceramics, he borrows from the potter’s environment of perpetual motion that focuses on the resulting continuous line of the thrown form. Hahn then uses this experience to inform his two dimensional and other sculptural work, allowing him to explore the aesthetic elements that these normally sovereign worlds share. Hahn will release his new 10 bowls for this time.Paola Masi(b.1973) was born in Rome. She first began throwing pots at Camberwell College of Arts, London in 2001. She has studied and lived in England, Mexico, Italy and Spain. In 2003 she took the opportunity to study as an apprentice alongside Master Potter Owen Watson in Onzain, France. Through the apprenticeship she had the great privilege to access the very essence of pottery in its pure approach inspired mainly by Song as well as Korean and Japanese ceramics. She is inspired in her continued search for the essence of beauty in all its forms: in music, in philosophy, in poetry and most of all in nature.In this time, we'll release her around 20 bowls including the works which weren't shown on her last solo exhibition held at showcase.
